When the kaiju came, Peter did what any experienced agent would and took an indefinite vacation. Someone else could handle this shit. A year later, the coverage still said everything was under control. Then he ran into a kaiju in central Delaware, over a hundred miles from the supposed battle lines. So, the vacation's over.
