Taking a servitor apart was delicate work, and also rather dull. She'd been doing this for years. Servitors got caught in machines all the time, and even on a ship that functioned as well as The Broken Scale, accidents happened. It was a sad reality that most accidents whose only casualty was a servitor was usually chalked up to a 'best case scenario' for most people on the ship. She understood it, intellectually, but emotionally? She had been working with a lot of servitors. They had personalities.
They were, or at least had been, people. She knew that some of them had become servitors to repent for crimes, but... well, she didn't like that very much. Maybe it was just her?
"Urgh," she said as she leaned back. Her new mechadendrites paused, hovering over the table before setting her tools down and withdrawing.
"I need a little break," she said.
"Understandable. You have been working for five hours with no pause." Had she? She was about three quarters done with K84-321's unhousing. She figured that placing him into his new home was going to be easy once she had it. CS-3-2/11 was next, and she had no idea how long that was going to take, but she was willing to work through the night for it. She walked over to a small bench to one side of the room, pulled it under her with a mechadendrite (they were so easy to use) and then had herself a hard sit.
Leaning forwards, Alexis rubbed at her face, then just took in the ambience of the room. There were always a few fans humming in her space, and she could hear noises from the Servitorium just outside. She needed a distraction. She found one in the overlay swimming over her vision. The Augs had several features that she hadn't poked at before. So she started to search. There was a settings menu, one that had a neat translation feature. The system had Human and Xeno languages...
she didn't recognize the names of any of the Xenos... what even was a Sunwatcher? But then she didn't recognize most of the human languages either. Then again, the Imperium was a big place, and so was the rest of the galaxy. She was happy to see Binharic had a translation. That would be handy. She still couldn't talk it, but understanding it was a big step up! Then she discovered the Noospheric connection. Alexis stared.
She'd heard of that space for a long time, but her connection to it was always detached, through old, repurposed dataslates, and other than pulling the occasional schematic for a well-known part off of a specialized cogitator, she hadn't really explored it. Well...
she needed a break ========================================================= +++ IMPERIAL VESSEL NOOSPHERE +++ +++ Praise the Omnissiah +++ VESSEL: The Broken Scale Current Status: Translation State: > IMMATERIUM TRANSIT ACTIVE Machine-Spirit Cohesion: > STABLE Primary Noospheric Cogitator: > RESPONSIVE External Astropathic Relay: > DEGRADED Current Liturgical Time: > 999.

Radiation levels in the room exceeded safe levels by 900%. Notably, the auspex in that room cannot read measurements past that level. The servitors within were damaged beyond functional capability. The solution, given limited time and proximity to the Servitorium, was to send in Tech Acolytes specialized in servitor repair to render those within functional enough to continue core stabilization. The first to make it into the room exited an hour later, unharmed.

Alexis went to the very last page and scanned through, not really reading it but picking out a detail here and there. It was all post-action reports, some pict-captures of the combat, and lots of discussions about what they could have done better, as well as the usual arguments that sparked whenever matters of doctrine came up and opinions butted against each other. She did note that some of the fights she was in were mentioned.
Mostly the combat around the Communications Array and of course that final battle at Forge-44. There were a few members of the priesthood there, and they were talking about her now... Well, mostly the utility of her servitors in the fight, but still, that was her! She scanned through the other threads, then picked one that seemed interesting.
