Crack. The crisp sound of bone breaking echoed clearly through the silent venue. Aren casually held Tour by the neck. Tour's whole body had twisted from the pain, and pleading filled his eyes. Suddenly, Aren felt bored. His right hand tightened and twisted left. Tour's neck snapped at a ninety-degree angle. After more than half an hour of continuous beating and torture, Aren had finally grown tired of it. At last, he satisfied Tour's silent wish for death.
During that half hour, Aren had treated Tour like a sandbag. He punched him away again and again, then used The Hand to pull him back, struck another part of his body, sent him flying again, and dragged him back again. The cycle repeated. Each punch stayed within Tour's limit. Sometimes, when Aren felt like it, he added a little more force and toyed with him like a yo-yo. By now, Tour no longer looked human. His left arm had been corroded and severed from the shoulder. His body was covered in fractures.
Aside from his left arm, his remaining limbs hung in the air like those of a broken doll, without the slightest support. His skin no longer had a normal human color. Large patches of bruised blue and raw red crossed his body, and blood covered him from head to toe. His face had become so deformed that even his mother would not have recognized him. The arena floor was splattered everywhere with his blood. The entire venue looked brutal.
"We have a winner." The commentator saw Aren finally snap Tour's neck and toss him onto the ground like trash. Her voice rose with forced excitement. Only after everything settled did the audience release a collective breath. The brutality Aren had displayed frightened even the most experienced Heavens Arena fight fans. They had not dared breathe through the whole process. This was different from Aren's match against Uvogin.
During that match, the audience had unconsciously held its breath because the fight was too exciting. They were afraid of missing even an instant. This time, they had simply been scared by Aren's cruelty. Even after the battle ended, they did not dare cheer loudly as usual. Unauthorized reproduction: this story has been taken without approval. Report sightings. Especially those who had loudly claimed at the start that Aren was a fraud or just a pretty face. They silently prayed that Aren had not heard them.
This Floor Master challenge reminded some people of the bloodlust Aren had shown when he first stepped into Heavens Arena. He had never been a kind person. As for Aren's fans, they also did not cheer aloud. But judging from their flushed faces, they were heading in a very different emotional direction from ordinary fight fans.
"I hereby announce the birth of Heavens Arena's new Floor Master. Let us welcome the new master of the two-hundred-thirty-fourth floor, Aren Voss." The commentator was afraid too, but this was her job. She had to push through. Applause began scattered and uneven through the audience. Then it slowly grew into thunderous clapping. They did not dare shout. But they could clap. If they did not clap, Aren might think they were not welcoming him. Once one person started, the rest followed.
Hidden among the audience, Darwin's face was pale and sweat poured down his face. Even so, he had no choice but to clap with everyone else. Tour's death meant Darwin's social status and income would fall sharply. Darwin was not sincerely welcoming Aren as the new Floor Master. Of course not. But he did not dare refuse. Even though he knew Aren probably would not notice whether he clapped, he still did not dare show the slightest dissatisfaction.
A pale-faced spectator beside him saw his reaction and tried to comfort him.
"Man, you're taking this too hard. Were you one of the people calling Aren a fraud earlier? Don't worry too much. He probably didn't hear you." Darwin forced a smile.
"Thanks." Aren might not care about other people. But Darwin had been Tour's closest partner. In Darwin's mind, Tour had already been terrifyingly strong. His own life and death had always depended on Tour's mood. Yet Aren had beaten Tour to death and left him unable to fight back. Whether it was naming Tour directly or torturing him for more than half an hour, all of it showed one thing. Aren and Tour had a private grudge. Who knew whether Aren would go after Tour's entire team afterward?
Someone like that was not only impossible to offend. Darwin was not even qualified to contact him. Later, back in Machi's room, Uvogin spoke in a tone that sounded more like a statement than a question.
"Yo, Deputy Leader. You took care of Tour?" Uvogin, Machi, and Neon had not gone to watch Aren's Floor Master challenge live, nor had they watched the broadcast. Rather than waste time watching a one-sided beating with no suspense, they had chosen to keep training. Neon had wanted to watch Aren's match, but her evening training had not been completed. Before the match began, Aren had asked Machi to supervise her properly. Under Machi's cool gaze, Neon could only surrender miserably and continue training.
"Yeah. Easy." Aren answered Uvogin, then clapped his hands at everyone.
"All right, get ready. I already asked Light Nostrade to arrange our trip to Yorknew. His people should be waiting downstairs at Heavens Arena by now." After the Floor Master challenge ended, Aren had planned to go straight back to Machi's room. But the moment he left the venue, he was blocked by Heavens Arena staff and a crowd of representatives from major brands hoping to discuss business cooperation.
The arena staff needed to handle the transfer of the two-hundred-thirty-fourth floor, explain matters related to being a Floor Master, and, following orders from above, introduce him to the Battle Olympia. As for the brand representatives, Aren's brutality in the venue had frightened them. But after he became a Floor Master, what they saw around him was not only strength. It was money. For profit, they still chose to stop him despite their fear.
If possible, they wanted to lock in deals before Aren understood a Floor Master's real market price. These brand representatives had long-term relationships with Heavens Arena, so the staff could not simply drive them away. That was why Aren saw a large crowd surrounding him as soon as he came out. After listening to them speak over one another for a while, Aren simply gave them Light Nostrade's number and told them to contact Light directly for anything business-related.
Aren did not know that Floor Masters usually had dedicated managers. He simply found the whole thing annoying. But everyone else was very familiar with that kind of arrangement. They immediately treated Light Nostrade as Aren's manager and tactfully cleared a path.
"I don't have much to pack," Machi said. She only had a few changes of clothes.
"Same for me," Uvogin added. Neon, meanwhile, was still on the training equipment with a wronged expression, grunting through her exercise. Aren looked at her helplessly.
"All right. I'll cancel the rest for today. Honestly, I told you to finish your homework earlier, and you insisted on watching cartoons." The moment she heard that, Neon's gloomy little face brightened. She climbed down from the equipment, ran pattering over to Aren, and jumped into his arms. Then she kissed his cheek in a shameless attempt to flatter him.
"Master is the best. Mwah." Machi's brow twitched slightly. In the end, she said nothing.
