As Haruto watched Anko explain the research details to everyone on the team, he thought back to what had happened just a few minutes earlier.
'How naive…'
'Orochimaru really thought someone would be foolish enough to shake his hand without a backup plan?' When Orochimaru had tried to implant the cursed seal on him, Haruto had done something simple, he had used alchemy to transmute Orochimaru's chakra and by extension his entire arm into its base organic compounds. This was the result of his study of the basics that Tsunade forced down his throat for the last few weeks.
'If I wanted I could've applied Edward's alchemy to Orochimaru's soul as well and left it in taters without letting him ever recover… but I guess that was just Orochimaru's way of greeting his 'friend'.' Eventually Haruto snapped out of his thoughts when Anko turned to him and spoke clearly, "Isn't that right Haruto?"
Haruto reviewed the memories of the last few minutes of Anko talking to the group in front of them in a few seconds before he responded,"Yes, we'll be working on computers and getting them to communicate with each other. I know you've all been taught the jutsu, but it is important that we work with each other to perfect it so that the rate is fast enough that computers can transfer data quickly."""" Hai!"""
The four or so odd clan members Inoichi had provided Haruto and Anko with nodded before looking at Haruto with gazes of undisguised admiration.
'Just what did Inoichi tell them for them to act like this?' Haruto wondered before quietly reading the mind of the person closest to him.
'Damn…' Haruto sighed.
'He revealed that I was involved in breaking down the meteorite so that they'll treat me with respect?'
'Who does that without permission!?'
'Should I wipe off their memories?'
'.... no, the damage has already been done… a lot more people now probably already know about it.'
'This deserves a punishment!'
'Should I erase Ino's memories of her father?'
'Hmpf!'
'I should develop a jutsu that affects the minds of all the people in the world at once to keep my identity a secret?' This story has been unlawfully obtained without the author's consent. Report any appearances on Amazon.
'I wonder how much White Zetsu knows by now given what has happened… I'm sure Madara saw me and Tsunade with his Sharingan given how ridiculous the enhancement on it is…'
'I wonder what his plan is now…'
'What if I just go to Madara's house with Tsunade and bomb the place like I did the meteorite?'
'Will he die then?'
'Or will he still regenerate?'
'Enough… now's not the time to think about all that.' Haruto decided before looking at the four people in front of him and speaking again.
"For now you four can begin by creating clones and Anko will begin with measuring how fast the data can be transferred between two clones currently. And I'll begin work on creating an internet protocol for the data to be transferred between the two computers.""""Hai!""" Anko clearly noticed the enthusiasm the workers were showing Haruto and not her so she asked them about it, only to receive unwilling gazes for a second before they answered her, "It's better you ask Inoichi-sama about it Anko-san."
"Hmmm…?" Anko looked at Haruto weirdly. She couldn't think of any reason why four full grown shinobi would respect a little brat so much.
'Is it because he trains under Tsunade-sama?'
'Hmm…' Anko let the matter slide and began to work with the four others to gather empirical data about the data transfer rates between the clones to bring to Haruto. Haruto meanwhile sat down on a computer and began programming a simple transmission control protocol much like the internet back in his own world. His wasn't anything too complicated yet, it simply sent out electrical signals from the computer for now.
It didn't have the ability to distinguish between senders and receivers and would simply broadcast the signal to everyone on the network at once. It took Haruto about two hours to come up with a simple test experiment where he borrowed one of the four guys and had him make two clones.
Then connecting a wire into the usb port of the computer, which was connected to the first clone, Haruto executed the code from one machine aiming to send a message from the computer to the second clone connected through the yamanaka secret jutsu. Almost as soon as the first clone got shocked it broadcasted the data to the other clone in the exact same pattern it received. The other clone shouted out the numbers it got which led to Haruto discovering his first issue.
"One one one one one one one one…" The clone only kept repeating one endlessly until it stopped after exactly forty seven ones.
"Well… that kinda worked…" Haruto wondered out loud knowing exactly where everything had gone wrong. The message he was transmitting indeed had forty seven ones in it so it was transmitting fine, the problem was it also had zeros in it to indicate at points that there was no current in the wire. And since the first clone didn't detect any current in the wire at certain points in time it didn't transmit anything to the other clone.
That was when Anko came up to Haruto and delivered to him the result of the job he'd asked her to perform.
"Haruto-kun, the rate of transmission of the clones is about fifty-six kilobits per second."
"Huh… that's… actually quite fast." Haruto said out loud since that was about the speed of a dial up internet connection in the early nineteen nineties. But Haruto was also happy that he had gotten this information now, because that meant he could do something clever. Haruto quickly modified the clone jutsu and handed over the modified version to the guy who was helping him out.
"Hmmm…? What are you doing?" Anko asked with a puzzled expression. But Haruto didn't say anything directly, he simply nodded and asked Anko to wait for a second by showing his hand. The old clone was dispelled and the new clone jutsu was performed. Haruto ran the experiment once again, only this time the result was exactly as he'd predicted!
"Zero one one zero one zero zero zero…" After Haruto finished noting down the entire sequence of ones and zeros he had the result in his hand. Haruto quickly translated the binary back into the normal language and jumped with joy!
"It worked!" Haruto said, showing Anko the paper.
"Hello World!?" Anko said confusedly.
"That's what the computer said." Haruto explained and then proceeded to reveal the entire process.
"You said that the maximum transfer rate of the clones was fifty-six kilobits per second, so I simply had the clone declare each one thousandth of a second it didn't receive a shock as a zero. Now whenever the computer wants to transmit information it does so at the exact speed of fifty-six kilobits per second speed in chunks of a rough one thousand of a second."
"Hmm… that's nice… but doesn't that mean we're locked to one speed forever? And what about variations in the processing speed? If the computer is burdened by some heavy task, how will it transmit the information at that same steady pace?"
"One step at a time Anko… one step." Haruto said with a smile.
