Lin Yi circulated his magical power and Qi through his Qi circulation pathways, absorbing energy and Spiritual Qi from the Content Qi Condensation Pill and his surroundings, and refining it into his own power. His Essence was turned into Qi by the Qi Flame, and refined through the Qi circulation of the twenty meridians. Then the Qi was channeled into the Crimson Palace, where it was derived into magical power. The magical power was then circulated along the Qi paths to support the advancement of his cultivation.

Lin Yi ran this cycle again and again until his energies, especially his magical power, flowed to an acceptable degree. He let go of his control over the supernatural powers as the instinctual Innate Qi took over and continued its circulation, though lessened. Finally, my cultivation is stabilized and ascended truly to the Crimson Palace Stage. He sighed in small contentment. Beginning from the fourth level of Qi Condensation, one was considered a fully fledged immortal cultivator.

This differentiation had no small reasons. In the early stages of Qi Condensation, while having access to Qi and spirituality, one couldn't properly use most immortal arts or affect the outside world. But at the fourth level, when the cultivator mastered magical power, the difference truly began. The energy not only allowed the use of spells and other arts but also helped the cultivator in different ways. Because of the characteristics of magical power, it greatly influenced the physical and spiritual body.

Not only did it allow the brain, and thus spirituality, to grow stronger, but also the body itself and thus the Essence and blood. The latter manifested in the creation of blood essence. As Lin Yi analyzed his body's state, he naturally found this. Blood essence was the natural crystallization of blood once one's Essence became strong enough.

It contained not only all genetic information, but also detailed information about the cultivation base and its level of strength over all years, while also functioning as a reservoir of Essence. Blood essence was used in many immortal arts, mostly in restricted arts or great divine abilities. One of the most famous examples of how blood essence was used in the immortal dao was the divine ability One Drop Rebirth Art. It allowed a cultivator to recreate their body with only one drop of blood essence.

Naturally, Lin Yi was far away from even touching this divine ability. His Essence was not the only Splendor that advanced. His Spirit was strengthened considerably as well. Through his spirituality and Internal Sight, he saw his spiritual body in a new light. Before, he saw only more than twenty meridians, but now that amount had multiplied. Dozens of different meridians were splattered across his skin, flesh, organs, bones, and even deeper, each with abilities and traits that were similar or unique.

These meridians, while also paramount for advancing his cultivation, led to the most important trait of Lin Yi's current stage of cultivation. The ability to use spells. Lin Yi woke from meditation, looked around for a moment, and checked the time. No light entered through the windows, and there were no light sources in the house. It was in the middle of the night, pitch-black. Only the moon, high beyond the sky, threw some light on the earth.

According to his senior brother, he had to report to the sect once he broke through. While someone should be on duty, he doubted this time period would be suitable. Furthermore, he had no means of transportation. He could theoretically call for someone to get him, but there wasn't any need for that as a Crimson Palace Stage cultivator, at least in a few days once he mastered a flying spell. Despite the immense focus he placed on his cultivation advancement, he wasn't yet tired or exhausted. Another boon from a higher cultivation. He thought. Lin Yi pondered for a few seconds, his superhuman mind flashing with dozens of thoughts, before deciding to cultivate his first spell. And as he was in complete darkness, what was better than a spell used for light? Back in the Outer Court, he read about hundreds of spells.

He was there, after all, for four years, and the first floor of the main Scripture Pavilion was open to free access. Of course, these spells were all minor ones and not worth much, but many of them had great use in daily life or even in dangerous situations. Many spells could produce a light source; however, Lin Yi wanted to start with something simple. It was his very first spell, after all. The spell he chose was named Body Alight Spell.

It was a variable spell that allowed a cultivator to emit light from any part of the body, though mostly the fingers or forehead. Lin Yi knew there were even advanced spells or divine abilities that let the user emit lasers from their eyes. Like some superheroes, huh. He laughed a little bit inwardly and focused back on the spell. He already knew roughly how it worked. The basics of the world and the human body were made out of the five elements: fire, wood, water, earth, metal.

Each also corresponds to one organ of the human body. Some meridians connected to those organs thus inherited part of the five elements. The element light was a derivative of the fire element and the heart organ. Due to this, the main meridians used for the Body Alight Spell were connected to or symbolized with the heart.

If Lin Yi were still at the third stage of Qi Condensation or even lower, with a weaker spirituality, he wouldn't be able to see any meridians beyond the 12 Standard Meridians and the 8 Extraordinary Meridians. That was another reason why the practice of spells began only at the mid stage. With his near-eidetic memory, he had the needed Qi circulation for the spell in memory. With a quick check, he knew that he could see most of the meridians used by the spell already, though some of them only partially.

But that was not much of a problem. He only needed all meridians once he wanted to reach Minor Completion. The mastery of spells was divided into four stages. Beginning, Minor Completion, Grand Completion, Perfection. These stages, however, were not strictly defined, but more loosely based. A spell was counted in the Beginner stage when someone could actively use it. For example, right now Lin Yi was not even in the Beginner stage for the Body Alight Spell.

Only once he successfully used it for the first time did he enter this stage. Minor Completion meant that someone was able to use the spell in combat or otherwise dangerous situations. Only at Minor Completion was one considered to have mastered the spell. At this point, one could use the spell even if one was distracted by someone or something, in contrast to the Beginner stage where any small distractions might allow the spell to fail. Grand Completion was another complete transformation.

In this stage, using the spell was near instinctive. There was no lag between deciding to use the spell and using it; even a heavily injured one wouldn't be hindered in activating it. Most cultivators would stop at this stage forever. Perfection was the last and final stage. Here, the use of the spell was literally perfect. Activating the spell was instantaneous; one could create variations on the go and even use it subconsciously or in near death.

The spell was no longer a mere spell but a part of one's cultivation. Without much hesitation, Lin Yi started practicing the Body Alight Spell. The working of the spell was divided into two parts; one, the conversion of magical power to suit the spell, and two, using the spell on a body part. The first part was the most difficult. Lin Yi had to circulate his magical power through dozens of meridians in different ways and directions. The sequence determined not just the form but also how the spell worked.

Some meridians imbued the magical power to emit light; others to adhere to body parts. It took hours of practice just to convert a small part of magical power, and even then it was only roughly how the spell's original magical power was intended to be. Nevertheless, he succeeded partially in the first and hardest part, and now transported the magical power to the tip of his index finger.

There, he concentrated the magical power at one point and used its characteristic, gained from certain meridians, to lock it in place. Mere moments later, a small but visible light appeared on his finger. Lin Yi looked at the light in fascination. Despite using the spell only brokenly and just entering the Beginner stage by a hair's breadth, he couldn't help but have a big smile on his face. That was his first use of an immortal spell. Another step on his endless journey.
