Out from the smoldering ashes and absolute nothingness of what used to be the homicidal plant corpses, a sudden, blinding flash of light caught my eye as thirty-five glowing white orbs lazily drifted upward into the newly cleared, smoke-tinted air. It looked like a highly aggressive group of fireflies had decided to throw an impromptu victory party right above the scorched earth.
The luminous spheres bobbed gently before dividing themselves with the kind of hyper-precise, mathematical elegance that would make a tax accountant weep with joy, sending a cluster of exactly seven orbs floating directly toward each and every single member of our beautifully traumatized traveling circus.
The seven glowing manifestations assigned to my personal pile drifted over to my immediate vicinity, hovering right in front of my face like a row of curious, magical lightbulbs before they slowly began to shift, solidify, and materialize into real physical form. I leaned forward and locked my eyes onto the freshly generated items with a massive dose of pure, unadulterated curiosity, half-expecting to receive a lifetime supply of roasted salad greens or perhaps a very fancy wooden participation trophy.
What materialized in front of my nose was a neat, hovering row of seven severed, bulbous violet flowers. These lovely little botanical horrors were the actual, honest-to-god faces of the Rot-Vine Creepers we had just thoroughly deleted. Even though they were completely detached from the rest of their homicidal bodies, the petals still retained a deep, bruised purple hue and were actively pulsing with a slow, rhythmic thud that looked entirely too much like a dying organic heart for my comfort.
As I leaned in closer, a thick, tar-like black necrotic ichor slowly leaked out from the base of each bloom, oozing down to coat the jagged, bark-like teeth that were still aggressively clinging to the underside of the flower. The frayed edges of the petals looked heavily stained and gave off a highly unpleasant aroma of damp earth and pure rot, yet somehow, the surface retained a strange, glassy sheen that caught the cleared light in greasy, oily rainbows.
Right on cue, the familiar holographic interface flashed to life before me in a burst of crisp blue light, and I eagerly stared at the glowing information to see what kind of fabulous riches the local universe had decided to bestow upon me. ••••• Name: Pulsing Ichor-Bloom Tier: 1 Drop From: Rot-Vine Creeper (Common) Selling Price: 2 Gold Coins Level: 2 Description: This item is a severed, bulbous violet flower that served as the "face" of the Rot-Vine Creeper.
Even after being separated from the creature, the petals remain a deep, bruised purple and continue to pulse with a slow, rhythmic beat like a dying heart. Thick, black necrotic ichor leaks from the base of the flower, coating the jagged, bark-like "teeth" that still cling to the bloom's underside. The edges of the petals are frayed and stained, smelling faintly of damp earth and rot, yet they retain a strange, glassy sheen that catches the light in oily rainbows.

It was the kind of hideous trophy that made you want to wash your hands with industrial-strength bleach just from looking at it.
Reaching out a cautious hand, I tentatively touched one of the floating biological horrors. The very instant my finger made contact with the bruised purple petal, the entire flower dissolved into a sudden flurry of bright blue particles, which swiftly spiraled into the air and vanished straight into my digital inventory.
I quickly tapped the rest of them, watching the remaining six plant faces evaporate into identical blue pixel dust until my immediate personal airspace was completely cleared of unwanted garden debris. Glancing over the smoking, soot-covered ground, I saw that the others were also in the middle of wrapping up their post-battle cleanup.
Each member of our party was actively accepting their respective loots, swiping through their own floating blue screens and watching their share of the spoils dissolve into glowing particles.
"We have unfortunately failed to save this beautiful village from the cruel clutches of the enemy's attack, but that does not mean our noble journey is over," Dimitri rumbled, his thick Russian accent vibrating with an overwhelming wave of pure, unadulterated kindness that felt like a warm blanket on a freezing night. He stood tall amidst the smoking ruins, his face softening with a look of absolute, unwavering hope as he adjusted his iron pot helmet.
"We can still take our righteous revenge for those innocent souls who lost their lives today. I can feel the powerful fury burning bright within your hearts, my magnificent companions, so let us continue deeper into the thicket and completely destroy the true cause of this terrible tragedy!" While the burly vanguard was busy delivering his grand, motivational speech to the empty sky, Fiona quietly stepped away from the group.
She walked over to the exact center of what used to be the bustling village square, her dew-strider moccasins making absolutely no sound against the charred earth. Kneeling down into the black soot with an expression of pure, gentle reverence, she carefully placed a single, vibrant wild flower right onto the scorched ground as a silent tribute to the departed.
"May th' braw sowls o' th' fallen find their forevair rrest 'til th' verra end o' this rrighteous crrusade," Fiona softly murmured, her thick Scottish accent so incredibly dense and heavily rolled that the words completely melted together into a chaotic, rhythmic hum.
Her speech was an absolute, impenetrable linguistic maze that was completely impossible for any normal human brain to decipher, but the pure, unadulterated kindness radiating from her tiny frame left no doubt about her sweet intentions as she stood over her little memorial plant.
"Let this rrueful blicht be th' verra feir o' oor single-minded drrive forward. We shul'na tarrry 'til absolute justice o'ercomes th' deirk!" I stared blankly at her for a couple of seconds, my brain frantically spinning its wheels as it tried and failed to extract a single coherent English word from that rapid-fire avalanche of Gaelic vowels. Realizing that I was entirely out of my depth but still wanting to look like a supportive team player, I offered a very confident, highly enthusiastic nod.
"I completely, one hundred percent agree with whatever wonderful thing Fiona is currently trying to tell us," I chimed in, tossing my hands up in a gesture of total solidarity.
"I am absolutely down for the cause."
"Then let us waste not another precious second of our glorious youth, my magnificent companions, let us march!" Dimitri roared out with a spectacular, booming enthusiasm that could probably convince a brick wall to grow legs and run a marathon. He adjusted his heavy iron-cuffed vanguard gear with a crisp, dramatic flourish, his face beaming with the pure, infectious kindness of a proud father leading his family on a very intense weekend picnic.
Without a single moment of hesitation, both Fiona and Aiko immediately turned on their heels and fell into step right behind our burly Russian powerhouse. The tiny druid scrambled forward with her natural, quick-footed forest agility, while our resident, hyper-anxious berserker hurried along right beside her, her massive black iron greatsword clanking softly against her gear as they marched together into the depths of the ominous thicket.
