Amidst Edgar's victorious laughter, the others also joined in to celebrate the huge victory of defeating the mutated monster. This hunt would definitely earn a lot of wealth for them. The core and materials from the mutated monster would sell for a huge amount.
'Should I have demanded more money?' A small regret arose in Arthur's heart, but he did not care for now. He had resolved a huge issue that was about to fall upon him and his family. Now, all he had to do was collect his reward and pay that outstanding debt. Suddenly, Arthur's eyes darted around his surroundings, searching for Coburn. While he was relishing the defeat of the monster, he had forgotten his skeleton. The last thing he remembered was giving the command to defend itself and be careful.
While frantically escaping from the battle, he had forgotten what happened to it.
'Did it get destroyed in the battle?' A dangerous thought came to his mind.
"Did you see my skeleton here?" Arthur asked as he urgently moved towards the crater, looking for its remains.
"Coburn!" Arthur cried the name of the skeleton as if it would hear his voice and reply, but he remembered that his skeleton was incapable of communication. The thought of the skeleton getting destroyed put his heart into a frantic panic, much like the debts the system would impose on his family. He had earned the current outstanding debt after much effort. Now, if the skeleton were to be destroyed, he was finished.
"Don't worry, kid. Your skeleton is fine. Look for it in that direction," Lena calmly said while Arthur was frantically searching near the crater. Only after hearing her calm, reassuring words did hope come back to Arthur as he ran towards the direction. After running in that direction, his gaze landed on a white skeletal figure. It stood near a small crater, which was created when it was sent flying by the blow of the tail.
Seeing Arthur running, Coburn turned towards him and stood facing him, still holding the unsheathed sword.
"Are you okay?" Arthur asked as he examined if any bones were damaged by the attack. However, even after a long search, there was no damage and not even a crack on the bones. Only then did Arthur let out a long sigh of relief. Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. Read this novel on the original website.
"You really did a good job, Coburn. Let's go." Once he examined it and found out nothing was wrong, both walked towards the location of the battle to collect the reward. He could only feel peace and relief when he paid off the debt and successfully removed that penalty fine of 10, 000 Credits. Before the duo could reach the battle location, the people were finished dissecting the materials and other things that would fetch money.
Arthur couldn't guess how much money they would earn through this hunt, but it would be huge by his guess.
"Come here, kid. Bring my sword as well. You will get paid based on the sword's condition," Edgar called out once he noticed Arthur. Arthur gulped as he took the sword and gave it a quick inspection. The sword looked fresh, so he confidently walked over and handed it over to Edgar. He gave a quick look at the sword and gave a stare to Arthur and Coburn, who stood static not far from them.
"The sword looks good, and as you said, your skeleton knows how to use a sword," Edgar complimented.
"Here." Suddenly, Edgar tossed something small like a stone, an object the size of an adult fist. Splat! Arthur caught it, and the catch squirted something from the object. The object itself felt squishy and wet. When Arthur examined what it was, he was shocked to the core. It was some kind of body part, with blood still squirting away and veins slightly glowing.
"What is this?" Arthur asked in a tone of disgust.
"That is your reward, kid. Since you and your skeleton helped more than we agreed upon, this is your share of this hunt. Enjoy," Lena said with a small smile. Arthur brought it close to his face. Looking closely, he could recognize what kind of body part this was. It was a heart of the mutated monster. Though he had no idea about material values, he had heard rumors that people earned enormous amounts of wealth through these monster materials.
If he was not wrong, he would definitely earn more than 1, 500 Credits after selling this heart. Without saying anything, he pocketed the heart in his coat's inner pocket as a warm feeling spread around his body.
"Thank you, then I will take my leave. And if you have any jobs in the future, let me know. I will definitely help," Arthur said. Just in case he were to be put in a difficult situation by the system, he would earn money easily in a short time.
"You did a very good job, kid. But stay away from this kind of business until you gain full knowledge and strength of your Class. Don't die prematurely," the burly middle aged man gave a firm piece of advice. Hearing the middle aged man's advice, a sudden realization hit Arthur's stomach. Though he had succeeded in this grueling battle, he was an inch away from dying. If it were not for his skeleton, he would be the one to die since he couldn't even fight.
So, he couldn't be over confident about just surviving by luck. After that, he didn't say anything. He left the Old Mining District with his skeleton to find a place to sell the material.
"That skeleton looks stronger than I thought. It easily stopped an attack and even severed the pincers," Lena said once Arthur went away.
"For a Class that had awakened a few hours before, it is definitely a surprise with that kind of strength. If it were to level up, just imagine how formidable it would be," the middle aged man said, voicing his thoughts.
"Indeed, it is an anomaly for a Class that has awakened recently," Edgar finally said as he examined a jagged black crystal in his hand.
"Let's see where he goes from here in terms of strength. We could use this strong new generation of awakeners' when time comes," he said as he pocketed the crystal.
"Now, let's start the work on the mine before anyone comes for a share," Edgar said as he stood up and watched the rising orange sun.
