The First and most vital lesson of any diviner is to never reach for the heavens with fear in your heart. A priest who fears fire will find himself set ablaze as the price for his intercession. A monk who fears starvation will see his body wasting away to pay for his miracles. A man who communes with the stars with a fear of pain will find torment called upon as the price of the heavens' intercession. This is not as simple as the words on this page suggest.

Every star can see the true hearts of mortals and they will call on you that beseech them with that price you fear the greatest for their miracles. If the fear is great enough they will do this out of all proportion to the task requested. If you reach to the heavens with fear filling your heart even the slightest blessing can bring you to ruin. The second most vital lesson is to temper and calm all earthly desires within one's soul when making a request upon the divine. For whatever the words of your prayer the gods know your true feelings. And they will punish you if you let your base animal lusts rule the spirit of divine will they have gifted you. They will like all things do this cruelly if you let them, by granting this corruptive want. Thus are the wants of the mortal used to destroy those that seek the heavens.

It is above all else that these two vital lessons are why mortal men, ruler and base alike, require the intercession of a diviner in their dealings with the gods. And why it is paramount for all students to enter into bargaining with the stars on other's behalf with a stillness to their souls. Under no circumstances should an untrained supplicant be put in direct contact with the divine.
