Chương 34: Chapter 35: Melanie Gatz

BANG BANG Two gunshots rang out as two bullets flew through the air before piercing Donald Jefferson's head and heart, after which the man dressed like a security guard turned and ran.

"The Fuck." Adam said aloud as Donald Jefferson's body went limp on his tail. [Noobkiller9000 (Earth): The fuck just happened?] [Whostolemyduck (Earth): The security guard killed the homeowner and not the intruder.] [Gunlovergirl (Earth): What sort of plot twist is this?] [DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): HAHAHAHA This is better than daytime holo dramas.] [Tessisdabest (Imperial Down): Everything is better than those holo dramas.] [DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): I know, but it gets the point across.] [Solarianpride11 (Solarian 4): Can anyone explain to me why the security guard did that?] [1000yearsofdeath (Earth): Ohhh, what a plot twist, I kind of wanted to watch him suffer more, but this is way more interesting.] Adam spun around and chased the security guard as his tail removed itself from Donald Jefferson's corpse, causing it to thump to the ground.

Adam saw the man making a mad dash down the hallway, where he was almost at the entrance. He pursued and, to give himself a burst of speed, activated his Anti-gravity function for a split second, allowing him to shoot forward at great speed before colliding with the man and sending him tumbling through the door just as he reached it. Residents of the nearby houses had come out onto the street after hearing gunshots and the screams that came from Donald's house.

They had already called the police and local security and were waiting when one of the street security guards who guarded the street's entrance to stop just anyone from entering came up in his car before rushing into the house. A few seconds later, they heard two more gunshots after Donald cried for help, and just now the same security guard had come tumbling out of the front door, followed by the man in the strange, futuristic-looking combat suit.

The man stood over the security guard before asking, "Why did you kill him?"

"I didn't kill anyone; it was you." The security in a righteous tone. [StealthAssassin9 (Earth): Seriously?] [Noobkiller9000 (Earth): Does he actually think that will work? I mean, the bullets in that guy's corpse will match his gun.] [AlamoMatador4thewin (Earth): I guess he planned to toss the gun.]"Do you actually think claiming something like that will help you?" Adam asked.

"I don't know what you mean." The man replied, trying to get up, but Adam stomped down on his chest, knocking him back to the floor and winding him.

"You probably believe that with all these people here, I won't dare to harm you or that the shouts and insults they're about to start hurling at me for being a murderer will affect me."

"Unfortunately, you're wrong." As he finished speaking, Adam's tail shot out once again and pierced the security guard's stomach before lifting him up.

"GAHHHHH." The security guard screamed as pain flooded his body.

"Oh godz."

"AAAHHHHHH."

"WHAT THE HELL?" People on the street shouted and screamed while covering the eyes of any children who were there. Adam ignored them, however and searched the security guard's pockets until he found his phone.

"Spector, access his phone for any information that might explain this." [Affirmative.] [Justiceistruth: (Earth): The streamer doesn't seem to care that he has an audience.] [Noobkiller9000 (Earth): The guy streams, do you really think he would care about that?] This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere. [Justiceistruth: (Earth): Good point.] [A text message was sent to an individual named Melanie Gatz fifteen seconds before contact with the suspect. The message reads: Get out of there.]"Melanie Gatz, huh." Adam mussed, causing the security guard's eyes to widen with horror at the name.

"Please cough, please don't…" The security guard started to speak, but he never got the chance to finish as Adam pulled out his blaster and shot the security guard in the head, killing him and turning what was left into a meat paste. The audience on the street screamed again as Adam returned to the house while the tail dumped the body again.

"Background check on this Melanie Gatz, also track her phone, hopefully she didn't dispose of it," Adam said while he searched Donald's corpse before pulling his phone out.

"Also hack this phone and cross-reference." [Affirmative.] [GPS data shows that Melanie Gatz's phone is still active and making her way across the city at high speed, most likely on the subway.] [There is no correspondence between Donald Jefferson's phone and Melanie Gatz.] [1000yearsofdeath (Earth): Uh oh, did he kill the wrong guy? Kekeke.] [However, there is a call log to an 'Informant seventeen' that took place shortly after you left the Blue Lagoon club] [StealthAssassin9 (Earth): You were saying? kek.] [1000yearsofdeath (Earth): Fuck.] [Data shows that Melanie Gatz's bank account has received numerous payments into it shortly after Donald Jefferson's phone made contact with Informant seventeen.]"Was she present at James Fleming's party while I negotiated with the leaders of the five families?" [Affirmative. CCTV footage shows her working behind the VIP rooms bar the entire night, including while you were there.]"Looks like she's our girl." [Affirmative] [Target: The Informant Eliminated.] [Mission Complete.] [[Stream description Updated:]] [[Stream Title: Spector's Revenge: Target 7.]] [[Mission Parameters: The identity of the individual responsible for leaking the information at the Blue Lagoon club has been identified. Your reputation for keeping your word is at stake if you don't have her take responsibility]] [[Missions Goal: Eliminate the Blue Lagoon employee.]] [Noobkiller9000 (Earth): And it continues.] [AlamoMatador4thewin (Earth): My man's on a roll today.] [DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): So I'm curious, why does it seem like the stream's sound cuts out just as a name is about to be said?] [Solarianpride11 (Solarian 4): You really don't know anything Deverinian.] [Beinglittleisnotadisadvantage (Strathorp 7): We think it's to help keep the target identity secret so that anyone viewing the stream can't tip them off, although we can't figure out how it's happening, as there is no setting for it.] [DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): Fascinating, but what happens if the target themselves is watching the stream or someone close to them that can link things together?] [Superior4horns (Vinox 3): We're not sure about that either; all the streamer has said is that 'it's taken care of.] [DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): Interesting.] As Adam exited the front door, he could hear the sound of sirens and saw flashing lights coming up the street.

He ignored them, however and activated the anti-gravity drive as wings began to form again before he shot up into the sky, leaving a red trail behind him. The people standing out on the street watched in shock as he disappeared into the sky. before they looked down and saw the corpse of the security guard, just as the police arrived and started asking questions. [Beczontop (Imperial Down): How long do you plan on streaming today? I have bridge duty soon.] Adam saw the message and decided to reply as he sped across the city towards Melanie Gatz's GPS location.

"Until I tie up the loose ends. If I'm right, there should only be one more target after this one." [Tessisdabest (Imperial Down): Then what?]"Then it's time for something new and even bigger." As Adam finished talking, he slowed down and hovered in the air as he looked at the ground below. The target's location on the mini map had originally been moving fast, leading it to be believed she was on the underground.

However, it was now moving much slower, so Adam believed she had left the underground and was about to appear above ground at Grand Central Station. As he hovered high in the air, people started to notice him; however, he ignored them and focused on the crowd that was just leaving the underground.

"Spector, can you indicate the target?" [Affirmative.] Spector replied before the HUD highlighted the target in question. Adam shot towards the ground, causing the people who had noticed him to gasp and scream in horror before he grabbed Melanie Gatz under her arms and lifted her into the air, causing her to scream and flail in panic. Adam flew across the city carrying Melanie Gatz, who continued to scream as a familiar building came into view.

💫💫💫 Emma Hopkins was sitting on the expensive couch in her office at the Blue Lagoon club with an annoyed expression on her beautiful face as she tried to access something on her laptop. She had asked her long-time friend Stacey to look into who the hooded individual was, as she was experienced and very good at doing background checks on people and finding out information they didn't want found and in finding people who didn't want to be found. Unfortunately, she was not able to come up with anything.

The man had popped out of the blue one day, and no one seemed to know where he came from or who he was. The only real piece of useful information was that, for some reason, he streamed his activities, such as when he negotiated with the heads of the five families. Stacey had given Emma the weblink for his stream, and she got excited when she saw he was live; unfortunately, she could not access it no matter how many times she tried, and it was starting to annoy her.

However, suddenly the website gave her access to the stream, and she was shocked at what she saw.
