Felicity and Xia were covered in blood and entrails. Their clothes clung to their skin, the blades of their swords completely red. And yet the corpses kept advancing, tireless, dragging themselves between the gravestones as if death itself refused to stop.
"I have an idea", Xia said, without taking her eyes off the sea of bodies.
"Spit it out".
"I'll keep the corpses busy. You go kill the bounty hunter. That's the only way we can win". Felicity stared at her for a moment.
"Are you sure you can handle all these dead on your own?"
"Yes. Don't worry about me". Felicity gave a faint, cold smile.
"Relax. I'm not". With a series of air slashes, she blew apart the corpses in front of her and opened a path, hurling herself forward. Xia was left alone. She stepped back a few paces and unleashed more air cuts to repel the dead, but there were too many. Too many and too close. Love what you're reading? Severed heads, broken bodies, mud and bones beneath her feet. In the distance, Lucas began coughing blood. His hand trembled on the hilt of the black sword.
"Shit…" he growled to himself.
"I need to move". Xia was now surrounded. The corpses swarmed over her. Rotten hands grabbed her face, teeth sank into her neck, arms and legs. Flesh was torn away in bites. And yet, her expression remained calm. She closed her eyes. She clenched her teeth. She accepted the pain. Felicity split a corpse in half, decapitated another, and finally reached Lucas.
"Die, demon!" Lucas attacked first. A violent slash. Felicity dodged and unleashed air cuts. Lucas parried them one after another and counterattacked. Their blades collided. One step, then another. Felicity slid to the side, raised both swords, and in a single motion, struck. The blades passed through Lucas's neck. His head rolled through the mud for several meters. His sword fell to the ground. Instantly, the corpses froze, then collapsed one after another, lifeless.
Felicity stared at Lucas's dead body and spat on the ground.
"This is for the Prinz clan, bastard"; then she grabbed the legendary sword. Xia was on the ground, her body devastated: exposed bones, torn muscles, scraps of skin still hanging from her body. She inhaled deeply and opened her eyes. Within seconds, flesh and tissue regrew over the bones. The muscles reformed, the skin closed itself as if nothing had ever happened. Xia stood back up, picked up her sword, and looked down at herself. Her kimono was ruined.
"I loved this kimono…" she sighed.
"What a shame". Leah ran into the cemetery and reached Felicity.
"Are you okay?!"
"Yes". Felicity approached Xia. Xia gave her a small smile.
"Thank you. Without you, I prob-". Felicity pointed her sword straight at her throat. Her gaze was cold. No hesitation.
"Enough bullshit", she said.
"Who the hell are you?"
