Chương 129: Chapter 128 – Unicorn Breath

Elena and Seraphina both looked toward the teleport pad surprised as the machine whirled to life.

"Are you expecting someone?" Seraphina asked, her eyebrows furrowed with confusion.

"No, everyone but Celestia's group is here." Elena said, standing up, her heart beginning to race.

"Go get Regina and Roxie, in case our unexpected visitor isn't of the friendly variety." She said, urgency peppering her voice. Seraphina quickly got up from her chair and rushed to the other room while Elena waited for the door to slide open. She stood off to the side using the wall as cover while she peered around it, the sound of her heart beating in her ears. When the door slid open and the occupants came into view, she rushed out.

"Celestia? Why are you back? What's wrong?" She asked, the shock and confusion apparent. Celestia walked out, followed by Rowan with Thai in his arms. The usual perky little bright faced girl was a ghostly shade of white.

"What's wrong with Thai?" Elena asked, looking from Celestia back to Rowan. Rowan took in a sharp breath trying to prevent himself from losing control when he spoke.

"Will one of you please answer me?" she shouted, rushing to take Thai from Rowan's arms. Elena's sharp tone jerked Celestia out of her daze.

"We… we don't know," she said, in a voice barely above a whisper.

"What do you mean you don't know?" she asked, confused.

"How can you not know what happened to her?"

"She just fell ill," Rowan said, tears forming in his big brown eyes as Elena took Thai.

"She said her tummy hurts, but it just came on without warning, she was fine and then she wasn't. She appears to be declining rapidly," he said, placing his daughter in Elena's arms. Rowan's hands lingered for a moment, trembling as he let go.

"She's burning up." Elena said, her heart began to race, feeling the heat radiating from the small girl. She carried Thai into the other room and placed her on the cot.

"Celestia, get Alex, quick, he's in the lab," She ordered stripping off Thai's party dress.

"We need to cool her down," She turned to Rowan, "go get a cool wet washcloth." Thai's eyes fluttered as she began to shiver.

"Momma?" she called, out weakly.

"It's me Elena, baby, can you tell me where it hurts?" Elena asked.

"Everywheres," her voice weakly croaked, before her eyes closed again. Alex came rushing into the room with a black bag and rushed to Thai's side.

"She just got sick all of a sudden, but that can't be right because… Thai doesn't get sick," Rowan said, visibly shell-shocked.

"Never as much as a sniffle." Alex rummaged through his bag and pulled out a thermometer and scanned her forehead.

"That can't be right," he muttered, then pressed the button to scan her again.

"One hundred and five," he said, confusion distorting his face before he began to hyperventilate with panic.

"I don't know anything about elven physiology. I don't even know what a normal temperature would be. How am I supposed to take care of her?" Seraphina came up behind Alex.

"Take a breath Alex. No one expects you to handle this alone. We will figure it out." she said calmly.

"That's it. Panicking is not going to help Thai," she said before turning to Rowan.

"Did she eat or drink anything new in the dwarven realm?" Celestia and Rowan both looked at each other then nodded their heads.

"No," they said almost in unison. Regina and Roxie stood by in the back of the room before Mikale came in behind them. He squeezed past the sisters coming up to Seraphina.

"Has she said anything about any symptoms?"

"She said she hurt everywhere." Elena said.

"Her stomach." Rowan added.

"Alex, I think we need to test her. Didn't you say she had handled that stupid Unicorn and it had bit her dragon?" he asked, shaking his head.

"This is how it started with my brother, high fever, body aches, stomach pain. If she so much as breathed in one of those nanobots…"

"But she isn't a Goblin, she is an Elven, human hybrid," Alex interrupted.

"Yeah, Alex, about that… we don't know for certain what else she is. The only thing we do know is that she had a human mother. Due to her Elven features we assumed an Elven Father. For all we know her father was an Elven Goblin Hybrid." Celestia said, worry, filling her eyes.

"Let's get her in the lab, I need to run some tests," Alex said, scooping up Thai's limp body.

"Mikale, how far are we on the modified nanobots?" he said, rushing past him.

"Alex, there is not enough time to modify, then recode some nanobots, we would be better off using the antiserum we devised from Regina's samples. We know this has to be the Goblin strand, there is no way they had enough time to modify the goblin nanobots to attack Elven, let alone human DNA." Mikale said, running his hand through his hair.

"Up until this week, I didn't even know humans existed, so I seriously doubt they do."

"Good point." Alex said as he laid Thai down on the stretcher in the lab.

"I'm sorry little one but this may hurt a bit," he said, placing the tourniquet on her arm and prepped for the blood draw. Thai barely flinched as the needle pierced her skin. Alex filled up the tiny tubes and handed them to Mikale.

"We need to see if the little bastards are in there… and run a tube through the DNA sequencer, we need to confirm Thai has Goblin DNA, If she doesn't then the antiserum will be useless." Rowan pulled a chair over to the stretcher and gently brushed back Thai's hair from her forehead.

"She's so hot," he said a tear falling down his cheek.

"You have to save her Alex, she's mine and Sheera's world." Illianna came rushing into the room.

"Roxie just told me…" she broke off as she saw Thai's still form on the stretcher and gasped.

"What's wrong with her, Rowan?"

"Alex and Mikale are trying to figure that out but they think it may be Mordak's stupid virus that almost wiped out the goblin population," Rowan snarled.

"I swear if I ever get my hands on this man I will destroy him. What kind of sicko creates something like this?" he asked, his eyes filled with desperation. Illianna came to him and put a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

"Don't worry, Alex and Mikale got this, they will have her back on her feet in no time. Right Elena?" Elena looked at her and tried to force a smile.

"I hope so," she replied.

"For all our sakes, I hope so," she added in a voice no one else could hear.
