Thirty years had passed. The world had forgotten the sound of war. The old kingdoms were gone. The Celestial Court existed only in history books. The Divine Gate had become a monument. And the name Rayan Ashvar had become a story told to children. Some called him the strongest warrior who ever lived. Others called him the greatest king who never ruled. Some believed he had become a god. Others believed he had died long ago. Nobody knew the truth. Nobody... except the people who had walked beside him.
At the Academy of Choice, a teacher stood before a classroom.
"Who was Rayan Ashvar?" A young student raised his hand.
"The strongest Astra wielder!" The teacher smiled.
"Wrong." Another student answered.
"The Dharma Heir?"
"Wrong again." A third student stood.
"The man who defeated the First Author." The teacher shook her head.
"No." This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it. The classroom became quiet. The teacher walked toward the window.
"Rayan Ashvar was the man who realized he didn't need to be the strongest." The students listened.
"He was given power."
"He was given destiny."
"He was given the chance to rule."
"And he rejected all three." A child raised his hand.
"Then why do we still remember him?" The teacher smiled.
"Because he taught us something more important than how to win."
"What?"
"How to choose." Far away... Beyond the mountains... An old man sat beneath a tree. His hair was completely white. His face carried decades of memories. Rayan watched the sunset. A young girl approached.
"Grandfather?" He opened his eyes.
"Yes?"
"Is it true?"
"What?"
"That you knew Rayan Ashvar?" The old man smiled.
"I did."
"Was he really that powerful?" Rayan thought about it.
"Sometimes."
"Could he really defeat gods?"
"Probably."
"Could he destroy worlds?"
"Yes." The girl became excited.
"Then he must have been amazing!" Rayan laughed softly.
"No." She frowned.
"Why not?"
"Because the strongest thing he ever did..." Rayan looked toward the sunset.
"... was put his sword down." The girl sat beside him.
"What happened to him?" Rayan looked at the horizon.
"He kept walking."
"Where?"
"Nobody knows."
"Will he come back?" Rayan smiled.
"Maybe." The girl looked disappointed.
"That's not an answer." Rayan laughed.
"That's the point." The wind moved through the grass. For a moment... Rayan thought he heard an old voice. The Guardian. Pavan. Siena. Eshan. All the people he had met. All the lives he had touched. All the choices that had shaped him. They weren't gone. They were part of him. And perhaps... that was what immortality truly meant. Not living forever. But leaving something behind that continued living through others. The girl suddenly pointed toward the sky.
"Look!" A golden light crossed the stars. Then a black one. Then a colorless one. Three lights. Three paths. They disappeared beyond the horizon. The girl smiled.
"What were those?" Rayan looked at them. He knew. But he didn't answer. Instead, he smiled.
"Possibilities." The girl stood.
"Grandfather, will you tell me another story tomorrow?" Rayan nodded.
"Of course."
"About Rayan?" He smiled.
"No." She looked surprised.
"Why not?"
"Because tomorrow..." He pointed toward the road.
"... you can tell me your story." The girl smiled. And ran home. Rayan remained beneath the tree. Watching the sunset. Watching the world continue. No throne. No crown. No Astra. No prophecy. Just peace. For the first time... Rayan Ashvar wanted nothing more. He closed his eyes. And smiled. THE END RAYAN: THE HEIR OF DHARMA ASTRA A boy without an Astra. A prince without a throne. A hero without a destiny. And a man who discovered that the greatest power of all... was the freedom to choose.
