When Mark and the group showed up after exiting the portal, they were not where he expected to be. They were standing on a stone platform with the portal in its center. No one from the larger group was around and looking at the ruins around him; he was pretty sure this platform was not here before they went into the instance. Looking around, they figured out that they were east of where the harbor administration building was, almost to the eastern edge of the harbor.
Before they could completely get their bearings, they received a system message. [Emergency Scenario Complete] Harbor Administration Stabilized Instance Duration: 1 Day 18 Hours External Time Elapsed: 2 Hours 47 Minutes Rewards: • Harbor Contribution +50 • Companion Adaptation Available: Chew Infrastructure Integrity: 12% → 14% Additional Harbor Opportunities Detected Mark read through the message and then stepped off the pedestal and looked around.
He then wanted to see what information the portal would give him and stepped back on the pedestal and got a new system message. [Harbor Operations Platform] Status: Active Contribution Exchange: Available Additional features unlock as Harbor Integrity increases. Mark then opened the system window and found the Harbor contribution exchange and looked at the options.

He then reached out and touched the portal and received another system menu. [Mistwater Harbor Activities] The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon. Available Activities: • Combat | Contribution: Medium • Utility | Contribution: Medium Cooldown: 10 Hours Instances Available: 0/2 With that figured out, they needed to find the other group and let them know they were back and show them where the instance went too.
As a group, they headed back towards the harbor administration building, as they guessed they could find them there. They arrived outside the building and found the other 11 members of their group. They were all staring up at the administration building at the room where the portal had been. Then one of them spoke.
"Any clue why that light just turned on?" When Mark looked toward the office, he indeed found a light on in the harbor administration office. It was definitely not there when they had left. None of them knew why it was on, but they were all sure it was not on before Mark's group entered the portal. As a group, they went back up the stairs to the room where the portal had been. Not much had changed in the room other than, indeed, there was a light on.
If it had been there before, it had been broken, but Mark could not remember for sure. And the only other thing was a display on the wall, similar to the ones they had seen while in the instance but with no red border indicating an error, so they went over and touched it, and it loaded up a screen.
[Mistwater Harbor] Integrity: 14% Active: • Harbor Administration Inactive: • Warehouse Network • Navigation Control • Lighthouse Network Available Activities: • Combat | Contribution: Medium • Utility | Contribution: Medium Instances Available: 0/2 At the same time he touched the screen, he got a personal system message. [Steward Interface Updated] Regional Infrastructure Added • Mistwater Harbor Additional infrastructure projects may become available as integrity increases.
Mark opened his steward interface and looked at the Mistwater Harbor tab and saw the same info as what was on the office screen. Mark and the group then left the office, and they all went back to the new instance and the harbor operations platform. All of the people that had joined Mark from Cave Camp wanted to try the new instances. As there were only 2 instances that could be run, only 10 of the 13 cave runners could go, so they drew straws for the 2 five-man teams.
The five that got to go first walked up and activated the instance and saw the two choices; after only a moment's hesitation, they chose the combat option and entered the instance. Mark had his interface up watching the screen and was surprised when it changed. Available Activities: • Combat | Contribution: Low • Utility | Contribution: High Instances Available: 1/2 Before the second group could touch the instance and enter, Mark pointed out the change he saw.
Which was that the contribution was previously medium for both types of instances and that they changed after the first group picked combat. He was not sure what it meant, so he suggested that the second group try the utility even though they really wanted to do combat, as Mark wanted to know what the utility type instance meant. After the second group vanished, Mark, Ava, and the three remaining people went out to scout a new location for an outpost.
Mark knew that once word got back, there would be more people heading this way, and they would need to have a place to call home while they wait turns in the new instance. They followed the road where the instance was located directly east until it hit the last road going north and south on the east side of the Mistwater Harbor complex bringing up his map, he looked where he was and then moved to the zone map for the wheat fields that was directly east from the port in the next zone over.
He then pointed in the direction and went about a short distance farther east from the harbor and told the three that they were going to create a settlement here. Mark wanted to make sure that it did not get a dumb name like Cave Camp. Before anyone could make suggestions, he announced that the outpost would be called Harbor Watch. With the name decided, the three men put out their tents to satisfy the outpost requirement for level one and created their outpost.
With the new outpost created, Mark wished the group good luck on their adventures and headed east back to Beaver Crossing with Ava and her bonds in tow. Mark figured that the village council would want to know and would have some thoughts on what they should do to prepare for those who would head off to this new adventure. If he knew Garrick, he knew he would not be able to resist starting construction on a new outpost and checking out the harbor, looking for lost construction knowledge.
