All over the Silvermere region people were talking. All they could think about was the new opportunity that they had. Everyone had heard about the Forgeworks and almost everyone has benefited from the metal, tools, nails, etc. that came from it. What would the new project change in Sivermere?
PROJECT OPTION 1 Mining Authority Estimated Time: 45 Days Personnel Required: 10 Assigned Workers Primary Requirements: • Survey Teams • Mining Equipment • Timber Supply • Stone Reserves • Transportation Support • Major Contribution Investment Projected Rewards: • Regional Mining Operations • Geological Survey Manuals • Quarry Development Plans • Resource Mapping Systems • Mining Task Expansion • Ore Transportation Framework Possible Long-Term Benefits: • Expanded Ore Production • Stone Quarry Development • Rare Mineral Discovery • Advanced Mining Classes • Increased Regional Resource Exports Project Description: The Mining Authority establishes organized resource extraction throughout the region's mountains and hills.
Survey teams, mining camps, and quarry operations will identify and develop valuable deposits while creating the infrastructure needed to transport resources to processing centers. Warning: Selecting this project will increase demand for labor, transportation, and timber resources while encouraging expansion into mountainous territory.
PROJECT OPTION 2 Lake Authority Estimated Time: 40 Days Personnel Required: 9 Assigned Workers Primary Requirements: • Dock Facilities • Fishing Equipment • Timber Supply • Navigation Support • Skilled Waterworkers • Major Contribution Investment Projected Rewards: • Regional Fishing Fleet • Boat Construction Manuals • Dock Expansion Plans • Lake Navigation Guides • Fishing Task Expansion • Marsh Resource Development Possible Long-Term Benefits: • Increased Fish Production • Expanded Water Transportation • Marsh Resource Harvesting • Lake Exploration Opportunities • Advanced Fishing and Navigation Classes Project Description: The Lake Authority develops the region's lakes, rivers, and wetlands into productive economic resources.
Fishing fleets, expanded docks, improved navigation, and organized harvesting efforts will transform the waterways into a major source of food, trade, and regional growth. A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation. Warning: Selecting this project will increase reliance on water-based industries and require ongoing investment in lake and river infrastructure.
PROJECT OPTION 3 Timber Consortium Estimated Time: 42 Days Personnel Required: 10 Assigned Workers Primary Requirements: • Forestry Teams • Draft Animals • Timber Reserves • Water Transport Access • Mill Construction Materials • Major Contribution Investment Projected Rewards: • Regional Sawmill Complex • Forestry Management Manuals • Logging Equipment Designs • Lumber Processing Facilities • Carpentry Task Expansion • Timber Transportation Systems Possible Long-Term Benefits: • Construction-Grade Lumber Production • Expanded Wagon Manufacturing • Furniture Industry Growth • Boatbuilding Material Supply • Advanced Carpentry and Forestry Classes Project Description: The Timber Consortium establishes a coordinated forestry and lumber industry throughout the region.
Logging camps, transport networks, sawmills, and lumber yards will allow raw timber to be harvested, processed, and distributed on a scale not previously possible. Warning: Selecting this project will increase timber harvesting throughout the region and encourage long-term development of forestry and wood-processing industries. A miner in the hills west of Westward village looked at the Mining Authority option again. He just knew that those in charge would pick this option. It was most definitely the best.
With Forgeworks the ore deposits that have been found were worth more than anything else. With proper mines, tunnels, lifts, and ore processing, they could make it big selling to Forgeworks. A furniture maker in Nortridge Heights was working on one of his finest items yet. He was looking forward to better lumber and wood selections, maybe even rare wood. Who in their right mind would not pick the Timber Consortium it was definitely the best project choice. A merchant in Southern Outpost looked at the choices again.
All three were great. As a merchant he was sure to win no matter which project won. A bridge builder was looking at his reserve pile of lumber. He was struggling to source enough with all the new projects that kept coming up. His vote if he had a choice would be Timber Consortium. A boat builder was dreaming of the ship that he could build while he was crafting a small two-man rowboat. He was hoping and praying for the Lake Authority so that his dreams could become real of being a shipwright one day.
A blacksmith dreams of more ore types found by doing Mining Authority. That has to be the pick: more ore, more metal from Forgeworks, more tools, more weapons life is going to be great once they pick the correct project. A fisherman dreams of the Lake Authority; it's the obvious choice. Bigger and better docks, better fish handling, and larger boats. Obviously the correct choice. A resident of Lakeside thinks about the value their village will have once the Lake Authority is picked.
They will of course become more important. Their settlement will grow and prosper. A builder thinks of the future. Once the Timber Consortium is picked, the area will finally prosper. More houses are built as every settlement needs lumber. They can build warehouses, mills, docks, boats—the list goes on. This is the right project. A village leader thinks over the project choices. To them it does not matter the choice. Any choice will bring growth; any project will bring prosperity to the area.
An unclassed person looks at the three choices. To them it does not matter; to them it means a specialty. THey can grow, prosper, and get a needed class in whatever choice is made. Just a few more days until the choosing is over and he can pick a trade that fits in with growth. A rancher thought over the list. Which would help him most. All had their benefits; all had their drawbacks. But none really changed what he would do from day to day.
All the projects would need animals for support, to build, or to transport. It was a win-win situation for them. A foreman loves mining for stone, timber for lumber, and lake authority for waterfront construction. It was work, work, or just more work. Just what kind of work would he be best at? Only time would tell. An explorer is excited about the mining authority. Soon they will be mapping the mountains and finding more resources. He was sure they would find new and rare minerals. Or other valuable resources.
This was the choice; he was sure of it. All throughout the Silvermere zone, people were thinking, pondering, and wondering what would be best. They have all talked with each other, pleaded with the leaders of their local village or outpost, and shared their desires. Only time will tell what choice was deemed the most needed by the area. No one really understood how this process worked. Just that each village and outpost leader was to rate the projects in the order they felt was needed most.
The system would then calculate that and announce the winner when the timer ran out. One way or another the zone would change. And no matter the final winner, the whole area would win in the end.
