Lucy then said in a terrified tone, "All of them have reached above level 2000. As the weakest was level 2013, while the strongest was level 2438. The group I saw was composed of six demons. I assume there are even more ancestral demons not including them. These demons are very dangerous, as who knows how long they have been alive? I've heard demons in ancient times tended to live longer, but I didn't think they could live long enough to reach such a level.
Even demons in the modern day only live about five hundred years, so I highly doubt they reached levels above 2000 in merely five hundred years." Listening to Lucy's report, I too was surprised, as so many demons above level 2000 could even give me some trouble if they attacked all at once. I then thought to myself how right I was not to rush into the demonic continent after gaining power, trying to take over both humans and demons to bring peace. This was a pipe dream.
This was probably not even the full force of the demons, though I don't know why they had hidden until now, but the threat is real. I then thought about the human side; considering they managed to survive even before I became the first hero, they too must have secret cards to counter them. I then shuddered as I realized how weak I was back then and how idealized I made the situation.
With so many powerful people, I started to acknowledge that my current power still wasn't enough, and I had to get stronger, but currently, I am stuck from progressing my most powerful skills any further. My level is also so high that it's difficult to level up. Even so, I decided that I would try what I could to be more prepared, as the situation that is soon going to happen no longer seemed so simple.
I then chose to set aside my world transfer magic practice and decided to train something more useful, which was my combat skills. I then looked at my system window to see if I could train a useful skill, since magic and swordsmanship were out of the question for now. Then, something on my system window surprised me. I had been so focused on world transfer magic lately that I only looked at it and nothing else, so I didn't notice.
I saw something I didn't think would happen anytime soon, which was that my EXP on my magic bar had finally started to move. I then realized world transfer magic is the magic of the gods. Since it was in the hands of mortals and could be cast by mortals, I had assumed this magic was no longer in the realm of the gods, but after all, mortal magic simply cannot cast such powerful, world-bending phenomena, so of course, it is still god-tier magic.
Still, I couldn't understand how god-tier magic had been given to mortals and how the heroes who gained it could use it despite being god-tier magic. Even though I didn't understand, it didn't matter. What mattered most was that I finally found a way to get closer to level 100 in my magic skill. With this level of magic, my combat power would increase by a lot, as I would enter the realm of the gods in terms of skill-wise.
Practicing god-tier magic, of course, would help advance my magic to god level, so I intended to go back to practicing world transfer magic once I finished talking with Lucy. I wanted to be able to use god-tier magic by the time unexpected situations happened. After a few more minor reports, Lucy finished delivering the information she had come back to give and decided to go back to the Demonic Continent to continue to gather information.
I then had a goal, so I went to a private place and continued to research world transfer magic by myself. My level in this skill has now far surpassed Himari, who is still at level 3, so the insights she could give me have now become minimal, so it would be faster to research it myself. Stolen content alert: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences. Himari understood this and didn't bother me while I was trying to study world transfer magic.
So, I continued to be diligent and studied this magic whenever I had time. As the situation was now getting urgent, I made free time for most of the day to study world transfer magic. This situation continued, and the next thing I knew, another three months had passed and I have reached level 7 in world transfer magic. This suddenly caused a big change in my system window. I finally saw the words "level up" on my magic skill. This level up then turned my magic skill to level 100, reaching the god realm.
Suddenly, something new happened right after as my level 100 magic skill suddenly turned to EX magic level 1. My magic skill has turned into something else entirely, as it was a skill no longer bound by mortal means. I felt a sudden surge in my combat power and felt like I could do a lot of things I couldn't before, which boosted my confidence. I then realized I was getting overconfident, which is bad, and calmed myself down, as being cautious will let me live longer.
Though I had not yet reached level 10 in world transfer magic, with my new EX magic skill, I was brimming with magic, and I felt like now, even if I cast world transfer magic, I would still have enough leftover magic to come back and even then would have extra. Though I had a stronger urge to go back now as I finally had the means, I decided to put it aside and wait as there were more pressing matters right now. The time flow is different between the two worlds. If I went to Earth now, who knows when I'll be back?
If I decided to stay for several days on Earth, then several years would have passed in this world, and who knows what might have happened with the situation between humans and demons. Now was not the time to go back. Only after I stabilize the situation would it finally be time to visit Earth. Though I was reluctant, I managed to convince myself to stop thinking about it. I then went to find Himari, wanting to give her the good news as she was the person who made all this possible.
I wanted to reward her something, as I finally achieved a dream I had for so long after coming to this world. Soon, I found Himari in a secluded place in the training area and found that she was also still training world transfer magic. I then saw something that surprised me. Her magic skill has progressed a lot, even though she only trained the world transfer magic to level 4. Her magic skill has jumped all the way to level 44, which is even stronger than most knights or bishops.
Though her level was still low, her skills could let her fight easily with people of a much higher level than her. As I got close, Himari felt someone was getting close, stopped her magic training, and saw me. She then asked, "Is something wrong? Why have you come looking for me?" I then told her, "I have successfully leveled my world transfer magic to a point that we can have a two-way trip back to Earth. After we settle the situation between the humans and demons to a balanced state, let's go back."
Hearing that we can soon go back, Himari was slightly expectant. Though she didn't have much reason to go back, it was still her home world after all. Anyone would miss home after a long time, even if not much is waiting there. I then told her, "Since this was all thanks to you, I am going to give you a reward. I am going to give you an EXP boost of 1. 5x, so from now on, you will become stronger even faster."
Himari then showed a joyful expression, as this would mean she can grow stronger even faster, since right now she was still quite weak to participate in major situations. Seeing her face, I quickly proceeded with her reward. Soon, new words appeared in Himari's status window: "EXP boost 1. 5x," which was quite noticeable. This sudden change made Himari even happier, as it was now right in front of her face, which showed it was real.
I then told her, "Since you have an EXP boost now, I'm going to take you to my secret hunting grounds to level up fast. This secret ground is only for me, Lucy, and the rooks. This is because if too many people go, the monsters and other beings would dwindle too fast for them to regenerate, which would turn the hunting ground into a normal place. So, I only allow people to go every once in a while.
Since situations outside have started to become unpredictable, let's go and level up fast so nothing more unexpected happens." Himari was then excited to go after hearing about such an interesting place and was already prepared to follow me. I then said, "This place is close, so you don't need to prepare. So, we will be going now." With that said, we then set off to the hunting grounds.
