My first course of action was to build churches with statues of Selen in them. The number of them couldn't be small, and they would be funded heavily. After that, I would need to find people to recruit followers, as not doing so makes the religion completely unknown. Over the course of the next month, I built churches for Selen and made them as grand as possible to show off the power of Selen. I then personally taught people the swordsmanship of Selen to gain followers.
Though the process was slow, as people realized how powerful the swordsmanship taught to them was, they began to believe. The more believers I made, the more those believers made other believers. Soon, the kingdom had a sizeable following for the Selen Church of Swordsmanship. This took an entire three months of time. Once I reached this point, I started to let the church grow more naturally and let the followers expand themselves. Selen, noticing the changes, told me, "I can feel a steady flow of faith again.
Though it is small, maybe one day I might gain enough to ascend to godhood again." Knowing my efforts were paying off made me feel much better, as I didn't know exactly how to help Selen regain her divinity. While I was still busy managing the church with a more hands-off approach, something began to happen elsewhere, as no trouble had come in a while. It was quite suspicious that the goddess Trisha hadn't done anything all this time, and I was wondering what she was up to.
The trouble, though, came from elsewhere as Maria came back to give a report about the dragons. Dragons are very powerful beings and tend to remain neutral unless something happens in the world. Due to this, I usually don't worry about them and only have Maria just watch, as they are still a variable in the world I didn't know too well. I don't expect them to cause any trouble, though, as they rarely ever make an appearance, so I wondered what trouble dragons could make when Maria came back.
Maria rushed back this time and quickly reported, "The dragons are starting to gather and seem to be sending scouts to the kingdom for some reason. Lately, a few dragons have been leaving their lairs to come in this direction. After they come back, they gather together and talk about something. I don't know what they are planning, but something is going to happen soon." Hearing Maria's report, I couldn't help but worry, as dragons have always remained neutral.
What could they possibly be coming to the human kingdom for despite us not offending them? I then said to Maria, "Continue to watch over them and see when they will make a move. We will prepare the best we can in the meantime." Maria then nodded and headed back to the dragons' territory to continue spying on them. After just dealing with a fallen god, more trouble was coming. This made me wonder if I was just unlucky or something else.
The preparations we can make aren't that many, as dragons are resistant to many things. We no longer have any nuclear bombs, not that they would work anyway. Dragons are resistant to heat and have thick scales to protect them from radiation and blast damage. So, the only way was to attack them personally with magic or in close combat. Dragons are all strong; though I don't know their average level, the one I had seen before was at level 1211.
I can't take them lightly just because I have a high level now, as there are those still stronger than me. As I tried to make a plan, something happened not long after Maria had left. In just a few moments after she left, she came right back, seemingly panicked. Unauthorized use: this story is on Amazon without permission from the author. Report any sightings. Maria reported, "The dragons have already come and are already flying at the edge of the kingdom. They are all rushing fast towards where we are right now."
I couldn't believe the dragons were this fast to act, as Maria had just come back to report. I don't know what will happen given this current situation, but I quickly went out to intercept them. Once I arrived outside, I could see the dragons in the distance approaching fast. It didn't take long for them to be right above me, as they seemed to want to say something. The one who flew down first was a large red dragon who was at level 3428. I wasn't sure if this was their leader or just a messenger.
The large red dragon started speaking in a loud voice, "Are you the one defying the goddess Trisha?" Hearing this, I was shocked, as I didn't think the goddess Trisha would have control over the dragons. It seemed she really hated me to the bone and is trying everything to try and kill me. Wanting to get out of the situation, I replied, "No, I am not the one you are looking for." Seemingly not believing me, the red dragon started signaling the others to come down.
The large red dragon then asked another dragon, "Is he the one who the goddess Trisha mentioned?" The dragon that was just spoken to answered, "Yes, this person is lying, and he is exactly how the goddess Trisha described." The large red dragon, realizing he had just been lied to, immediately became angry. The large red dragon yelled, "How dare you lie to a dragon! Prepare to die today for belittling the honor of a dragon."
The next moment, smoke started to appear in the large red dragon's mouth as he was ready to shoot out an inferno of fire. As I saw it, I realized I had reacted too late and started to use ice magic to freeze the area to mitigate the damage. The scorching fireball was then launched at me, which was barely diminished by the sudden cold environment. I then created a shield to stop the fireball, and the two made contact. After an explosion, the fireball's power dispersed, and I fully managed to block it.
The dragon, seeing me block its attack, was momentarily stunned, as he was a high-level dragon. Taking the opportunity, I launched my own attack with my sword and sliced the dragons beside the large red dragon, instantly killing them. I had forgotten how it felt to be much stronger than the enemy, as I was beaten down so often lately. The feeling of dominating your opponent again felt nice after so long.
The red dragon, seeing the situation, suddenly lost his initial arrogance and calmed down after seeing his comrades dying so easily. The red dragon then stated, "I am a messenger from the dragon race and have come to deliver a message to you. We shall be coming here in full force to fight against you soon under the order of our Dragon God Flander, who is a subordinate god of goddess Trisha. If you don't want to meet a tragic end, then surrender immediately."
Listening to the large red dragon, it seems a conflict was inevitable. Despite not wanting to be enemies with the dragons, it seems the goddess Trisha has far too much influence. Since there was no way out of it, there was no point keeping the large red dragon alive, and I raised my sword to kill him. The large red dragon, seeing that I wasn't backing down despite his threats, decided it wasn't worth risking his life for no reason and started to flee.
I didn't allow the dragon to leave, as I was stronger than him now. After a quick slash of my sword, I cut the large red dragon in half. Not long ago, I wouldn't have been able to win so easily against such a high-level dragon. I was now even more amazed by how powerful Selen was to train me to become so strong. Since a battle with the dragons was inevitable, I went to prepare as many countermeasures as I could. I didn't want to just rely on Selen for everything, as the enemy this time are dragons and not gods.
I wanted to be able to deal with them myself so as not to always bother her. Not to mention, it seems Selen doesn't particularly like getting involved unless a major threat comes, so I need to handle the danger myself this time. I then went back inside to prepare, as I needed to stock up on weapons, equipment, as well as bring myself to the highest fighting condition before the dragons fully launch their assault. After a week, I finished my preparations and was wondering when the dragons were going to arrive.
I wasn't disappointed, as in the distance, large sounds of dragons could be heard. The dragons this time truly weren't holding back, as the sky was completely covered with them, making a large commotion from so many large bodies flying in the air. Since they have finally come, it was now my turn to go and engage them personally. I then went outside to go and intercept the army of dragons.
