I quickly exited the Kingdom of Equality and left a decent distance so that I wouldn't involve the kingdom in the battle to come with the dragons. Sophia came with me this time to provide support while Shiro stayed behind to make sure the kingdom was safe. A few moments later, the army of dragons flew in front of me and landed, as their target to kill was me. The group of dragons leading the rest of the dragons were very high level, as the group all contained those at the level 4000s.
The dragons are truly a strong species with all these strong beings. The dragon at the forefront spoke, "I am the dragon king Reis. You must be the one who defies the gods. Are you ready to meet your demise?" I replied, "Are you sure there isn't a way to end this peacefully?" Reis answered, "The only peaceful way is for you to surrender without a fight. Otherwise, we will kill you and destroy the kingdom behind you for standing on the opposite side of the gods."
Seemingly unable to convince the dragon king Reis otherwise, I prepared for a fight with these dragons. The dragon king Reis, seeing my stance, also began to attack. Giving his order, the dragon king came forward along with the other dragons to besiege me with their numbers. There were so many dragons, and I was going to have a very long battle today. Sophia buffed me with her strongest support spell, and I started to kill as many as I could.
As I couldn't kill those at level 4000 in a short time, I targeted the weaker dragons. Every time I made an attack, another group of dragons would fall. In the meantime, I was also splitting my attention among the strong group of dragons still attacking from the side. Due to this, I suffered some injuries as I constantly needed to trade blows to kill more dragons. Whenever I was injured, Sophia quickly healed me the best she could.
As more dragons fell, the rest of the dragons became even more frenzied due to the death of their comrades. The amount of dragons was very tiring to kill, as I constantly got tired and needed to stall to regain my energy. After an entire day, I finally killed off those dragons behind the level 4000 dragons and only had this strong group left to deal with. We then engaged in the last confrontation as both sides were now exhausted.
With whatever energy me and Sophia had left, we pushed through and looked for gaps to exploit. The original arrogance of the dragons had faded, and they were now very careful not to be killed themselves. As the fight dragged on, some of them began to feel the fear of death and tried to escape. I took this opportunity to kill one after another of the dragons. The dragon king Reis was very angry by the deserting dragons but could do nothing but let them escape as he was preoccupied with me.
After killing all the dragons except the dragon king and letting those dragons who escaped go, I had leveled up quite a few times. My system now said: Level Up: 4913 Now, with just the dragon king Reis left, I was finally about to finish off the invading dragons. Suddenly, the dragon king was starting to attempt to do something as light started to appear from his body. It looked just like that time that the goddess Trisha had descended, and I wanted to prevent the dragon king Reis from doing the same.
Unfortunately, once it started, it couldn't be stopped, as none of my attacks were doing anything to Reis anymore. This story has been unlawfully obtained without the author's consent. Report any appearances on Amazon. The next moment, Reis started to transform in appearance to that of a tall, muscular humanoid man with scales and dragon features. The oppression that this figure was giving off was slightly less suffocating than Trisha at the time, but still very strong.
The new figure spoke, "I am the Dragon God Flander. How dare you kill my dragon kin. Are you prepared to suffer my wrath?" It appears another god had descended to fight against me. Though this time it was an avatar, which means the power was limited due to world restrictions. Still, I wasn't strong enough to defeat this avatar, but to stall. At this point though, I was exhausted from fighting off against all the dragons and didn't have the energy to continue stalling against Flander, so I wasn't sure what to do.
Continuing wasn't an option as Sophia was just as exhausted as I was. The only option I could think of was to escape, though I wasn't sure how far I could go. As I started to turn away to escape, Selen suddenly appeared in front of me. It seems she was now willing to intervene since it now concerned the level of a god. Selen at this point felt stronger than before in the last battle, which I assumed was due to her slowly regaining some divinity.
Selen started to say to Flander, "Do you think you can do anything with me here?" Flander replied, "So you are the one helping this mortal and defying the goddess Trisha? Are you sure you want to continue defying someone as powerful as Trisha? Once you ascend, it won't end well for you." Selen answered, "That is a problem for the future. If I had continued to be obedient and not cause trouble, do you think I could regain my divinity and ascend? Why should I continue to hold my head down and hide?"
Flander looked at Selen, realizing the woman in front of him wouldn't budge no matter what he said. Flander stated, "Even if you intervene today, I will kill that human behind you. Though with my current avatar I can't kill you, that doesn't mean I can't kill those around you." Flander then blasted a large ball of fire in my direction, attempting to kill me while ignoring Selen. Selen intervened and sliced the ball of fire in half.
Flander continued and sent several more balls of fire in my way, which each was intercepted by Selen. Flander then flew forward at high speeds to try to bypass her while she was occupied with blocking the fireballs, but Selen was already finished and blocked his way again. Seemingly unable to make any progress, Flander decided he would wear out Selen first before continuing, and the two started to engage in battle.
The battle was intense, as I could barely see what they were doing, as constant strong attacks damaged the environment and fireballs were shot constantly, scorching the ground. As the battle continued, it seems Flander was running out of time. The light coming from his body was starting to dim. Flander noticed this too and started to use everything he had left in a last-ditch effort to kill me. Flander created a giant scorching ball of fire the size of a mountain and used everything he had left to shoot it at me.
Once he finished, the light from his body disappeared and he reverted to the dragon king Reis. It didn't take long for Reis's body to start dispersing into particles of light and dying. In my direction though, I had now recovered somewhat as I began to try and defend against the massive ball of fire, as Selen was now too far away to make it in time. With Sophia's help, I prepared and made contact with the huge mass of fire. The extreme heat instantly started to scorch my arms as I pushed the ball of fire back.
After continuing for a few moments, as I was barely clinging onto this fragile balance, Selen finally came and sliced the ball of fire in half. I instantly felt relief as I was no longer in danger. Selen at this point seemed not to have any injuries, as she was just stalling Flander until he ran out of time. This time, with Selen's help, we achieved a clear victory against the dragon with no sacrifices. Since I was still injured, the three of us quickly went back to the kingdom so I could heal from my injuries.
With the dragons defeated, the remaining ones became very quiet. Now that the dragon god Flander had descended, he can no longer descend again for a long while, just like Trisha. This bought me some time as nobody could attack us again for at least a while. I then spent a short while recovering before going back to continue to train and get stronger. After witnessing another battle between gods, I started to feel my skills about to level up again.
Half a year after the dragons attacked, my swordsmanship leveled up again and reached [EX] Swordsmanship (Lv. 11). This means I finally reached another step forward in becoming stronger. While I was training, it seems some unrelated trouble started happening at the edge of the Human Continent. Originally it could be handled, and I didn't pay much attention to it, but it was now becoming a serious issue.
The issue has become so large that Nao, who had gone back to the border of the Human Continent, couldn't handle the foreign invaders and had come back to report. Nao reported back, "Strong enemies have infiltrated the Human Continent. I couldn't repel them, and help is required to fight against them." It seems the other continent had caught word that the Human Continent was in turmoil and is trying to invade. Since this was the case, it was now my turn to act. I quickly followed Nao to intercept the invaders.
