The muscular man didn't seem surprised by my question, replying, "Where do you think your system came from?" I was surprised, as this man knew I had a system. So far, outside the organization, nobody knew about the system, and no gods had mentioned my system.
"Obviously, it's from me," the muscular man said proudly.
"It is my proud invention, and I left it up to fate for a lucky person such as yourself to obtain it. I also designed the system so that lucky person can reach this point known as godhood." Still confused, I asked, "So who are you exactly to be able to design such a thing?"
"I am the Outsider God," the muscular man said with enthusiasm.
"My name is Freed, and just like you, my enemy is the goddess Trisha."
"How do you know my enemy is Trisha?" I asked, as I looked at Freed with skepticism.
"Do you think I can't observe the situation in the lower plane of mortals?" Freed said with a mysterious air.
"Trisha is the highest-ranking god in the world of the gods, and your name has spread for offending her." The first explanation Freed gave was somewhat unreliable, but the second one made a lot more sense, as the goddess Trisha seemed to have a lot of authority among the gods.
"So, what is your purpose in seeking me out here without anyone around?"
"I'm here to explain to you what is happening in the world of the Gods. I have a connection with you since you were the one who found my system and came here all according to my plans."
"What made you plan such a thing? It is not like a weak, newly ascended god like me can help in any way to fight a powerful goddess like Trisha."
"I wanted to create a chance for someone to rise up against Trisha and end her tyranny," Freed explained as he started to show me something on his body. What he showed was a giant scar on his chest that was hidden by his clothes. The scar was so extremely large and deep that I was surprised Freed was still alive.
"How did you get such a large wound?" I asked, trying to look away from the grotesque wound.
"This was from my battle with Trisha thousands of years ago. I was slightly weaker than her at the time and lost. After losing, I escaped and went into hiding, which is why I am here."
"I still don't understand. Why did you choose a mortal to come and help you fight someone even you can't defeat?"
"I chose a mortal since all the gods have either become neutral or sided directly with Trisha. The only way for me to find help is someone completely unrelated. You are that person, as you are from a different world and have a drive for change."
"Does that mean that when I found the system, it was already planned?"
"Originally, I didn't intend for you to find it as I wanted to leave it up to fate, but you impressed me so much that I changed my mind and chose you as the lucky person to find it. Ever since then, I have been watching you closely. What surprised me was that you provoked Trisha yourself without me doing anything." Listening to Freed's explanation, I felt slightly embarrassed, as I had provoked a goddess all by myself. Freed didn't instigate my confrontation with Trisha, but I offended her anyway.
"So, what do you expect me to do? I'm still so weak that any God can easily kill me." If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement.
"Obviously, since you are here with me now, I will train you to fight against Gods. Back in the day, Trisha and I were the two strongest Gods in the world of the Gods. If it weren't for my injury preventing me from growing further, I would be fighting her myself."
"Does that mean she is stronger now than when you first fought her?"
"Of course, it has been thousands of years after all. From what I've seen, she is now at level 9999, but she is currently stuck and unable to progress any further."
"Then how strong were you back when you fought her?"
"I was at level 9582 back then, but I haven't progressed ever since."
"How does that compare with other Gods?"
"As for other Gods, it is still the strongest to this day. Low-level Gods are at level 5000 to 7500. Mid-level Gods are from above level 7500 to level 9000. Anything above level 9000 is a high-level God."
"How many high-level Gods are there in the world of the Gods? Also, can other Gods see levels like you?"
"There are only two high-level Gods to this day, which are Trisha and me. As for other Gods, they can feel how strong someone is instead of seeing a concrete level. I made the leveling system so it was easier to estimate power, so only I can see levels." I was shocked by what I just heard. This caused me to see Freed in a new light, as he was the second strongest God in the world and made something as complex as levels. This thought made me think of another question.
"If you are so strong, why are you just hiding rather than doing things yourself?"
"I'm not at the same level of power as I used to be, as you can see. If I were to compare myself now, I would be as powerful as one of the strongest mid-level Gods at most."
"If that's the case, is there even a chance for me to defeat Trisha with you being so severely weakened?"
"Don't worry. I have been planning for thousands of years and have a foolproof plan for growing you to be the next strongest God. After I'm done, you should be able to defeat Trisha by yourself."
"Then when do we start this training of yours?"
"Right now," Freed said as he appeared in front of me, starting with an attack.
"What are you doing? I thought you were going to train me," I asked as I dodged his first attack.
"This is training. The best way for you to learn is through pain. I will beat the experience into you so you can grow quickly." Not explaining any further, Freed continued with his attacks, not allowing me to ask any more questions. I took out my sword to try and block his attacks, but every time I did so, the weight of Freed's attack made my arms numb. Ignoring my pain, Freed wouldn't let me rest as he constantly beat new injuries onto my body. Days passed as Freed continued to beat me into a bloody mess.
He would only allow me short breaks to sleep and eat before going right back to training me. Progress was slow, but I started to get fewer injuries as I learned to better control my body and refine my swordsmanship. This made me feel that Freed was indeed training me, as all his attacks felt deliberate. After several weeks of this, I improved even more as I felt my swordsmanship skill was about to level up again, and I started to gain motivation to continue Freed's training.
As we continued, a whole year passed while he still continued his daily training, not allowing me to rest. At this point, my swordsmanship had progressed rapidly and reached [EX] Divine Swordsmanship (Lv. 30). Still not satisfied with my current abilities, Freed continued onwards, not allowing me to see an end in sight. We spent every waking moment in the forest, constantly causing destruction wherever we went. The forest now had several damaged areas that would take a long time to recover.
Freed didn't care, as he still did the same thing every day, not allowing me to rest for very long. The forest had become devoid of life since we started, as every living being was scared off by us. After another ten years of nonstop training, my swordsmanship had progressed very rapidly and reached [EX] Divine Swordsmanship (Lv. 50). At this point, Freed finally stopped and allowed me to rest. Finally having a chance to rest after a full eleven years, I immediately passed out and entered a deep sleep.
Nothing woke me up during this time as Freed watched over the surroundings. It took me a few days of deep sleep before I finally woke up fully refreshed. Looking around, I quickly saw Freed standing close by, seemingly waiting for me to wake up.
"How do you feel?" Freed asked after seeing me awake.
"You should be fully rested by now if I'm right."
"I indeed feel completely fine now," I responded as I checked the rest of my body.
"So, what do you intend to do now? You let me rest for the first time after so many years, so there must be a reason."
"The reason is simple. You should now be more than strong enough to fight a low-level god with your current skill level. Even though your actual level is lacking, your sword skill should be more than strong enough to fight against a weak God."
"Then do you have someone in mind for me to fight first?"
"I indeed do have someone in mind, and you should be quite familiar with this God."
"Which God are you talking about?"
"The God you fought on the Magical Continent. The Magic God Jason."
