Chương 44: Chapter 43: Ascending to Godhood with Selen

Once we arrived in front of the two fallen gods, there was immediately tension between both of our sides. The appearance of the two were quite different, as one was tall and the other was short. The tall god looked at the both of us before sending a look to the short one, to which he nodded. Right after doing so, the two rushed forward, intending to attack us, each with their own opponent. The taller one attacked me, while the shorter one attacked Selen.

Since we each had an opponent, we also went forward to intercept them. The god I was facing used a long staff, while the short one used knives. The tall god didn't say anything as he swung down hard, which I countered with my sword. Due to this being a clash between high-level beings, the ground around us cracked and dented under our combined clash. Immediately after the first exchange, the tall god started to throw projectiles, which I tried to block, but suddenly they grew huge out of nowhere, which surprised me.

Due to being caught by surprise, I was hit by the projectiles and suffered some minor injuries. This god must have magic to enlarge objects, so I will be more careful about this from now on. Not allowing me to think any further, the tall god continued his attack as he threw more projectiles while also swinging down his staff. Since there was nothing else to do but move forward, I channeled all my energy to try and cut the staff apart to make some room to escape. Upon the clash, I immediately felt pressured, as the weight increased with the size, weighing far more than before, along with the tall god continuing to increase the size to add to the pressure.

By the time my legs were buckling from the weight, the staff was now the size of an entire building, and the weight was unbearable. Pushing myself to the limit, I slid the staff to the side and barely managed to avoid getting hit. Taking advantage of the fact that the staff was now slammed into the ground, I tried to counterattack, but to my dismay, the tall god was no longer behind the staff.

Wondering where he went, the next moment something hit me in the back, which made a deep gash on my back that burned with pain. When turning around, I saw a bloody rock that had my blood on it. The one who sent it was the tall god, who also sent more projectiles my way, not allowing me to counterattack in the slightest. My energy was draining fast, as I constantly tried to block the projectiles and constantly suffered minor injuries. This continued for a while as the tall god was trying to play a war of attrition.

The tall god bought my ruse and tried to counterattack, but by that point, I was on my way to get out of the blast zone of the secret weapon. Following close behind was Selen, who had done something similar. Not understanding what had just happened, the two fallen gods momentarily paused to process what had just happened, as we were now just running away mid-fight. In that moment of carelessness, Selen and I had already traveled a decent distance.

By the time the two fallen gods decided to give chase, a beam of light was shooting down from the sky. Though it wasn't as massive as a nuclear bomb, the sheer focused power outclassed one, as an extremely dense laser shot down on both fallen gods, completely enveloping them in the destructive energy. The laser continued to shoot down for several minutes before finally receding and completely disappearing. What was left was an empty vacuum and a large hole that sucked everything around it in to fill the gap.

The sheer destructive power of the laser was amazing, as I couldn't see if the two fallen gods were still alive in the hole. Still on guard, I waited to see if they came up from the hole. After a few minutes of waiting, two figures began trying to climb out of the hole, bleeding everywhere on their bodies and having several parts of their bodies gone. These two fallen gods were now on the edge of death and would no longer be too hard to kill.

Now with their final energy, the two gods completely escaped the hole with a very ugly look on their faces, as they had just almost died. Not allowing them to recover, Selen and I immediately went to finish the two fallen gods off. With a look of despair on their faces, as they didn't have the energy to defend, we killed the two powerful fallen gods. If it weren't for the massive energy consumption of this laser, I would want to use it more often. Unfortunately, this single use has completely drained the power we have built up over the last ten years, and we can't do the same again in the short term. While I was thinking about this, something happened, as light started to appear around Selen and me. This light couldn't be shaken off and slowly started to have a pulling force upward.

She has been a thorn on our side for too long, and I wanted to put an end to it.

As time was running out, I yelled toward the kingdom of Equality, "All of you take care of yourselves while I am gone! I will try to be back as soon as I can!" As soon as I finished speaking, the pulling force began to become even stronger as I was about to be ejected from this world.

Once the pulling force became unbearable, Selen said, "If fate allows it, then I'll see you on the other side. We will be transported to random places in the world of the gods, so I don't know if we will see each other again. The world of the gods is huge, after all." With her final words, I couldn't respond before I was completely pulled into the sky, causing me to black out from the sheer speed that I was traveling at.

After an unknown amount of time, I opened my eyes to see that my environment had completely changed. My environment was now that of a dense forest that looked no different from the normal world. I wondered if I was truly in the world of the gods, as there was simply nothing that indicated that it was. While I took in my surroundings, I couldn't find anything but trees as far as the eye could see, as they completely covered my vision.

Unsure of where I was, I decided it wouldn't hurt to wander around to get out of this never-ending forest, as staying here wouldn't solve anything. As I took my first step, I suddenly heard a voice behind me, "Well, look what we have here. You finally arrived in the world of the gods after so long." I turned around quickly to see a tall, muscular man with long curly hair and a face full of facial hair. The man was wearing pretty normal clothes despite his wild appearance, which fit in with the forest.

Not knowing why this man seemed to recognize me, I asked, "Who are you?"
